Mom and I just got back from Las Vegas.  We were celebrating Mom's 84th birthday.

We stayed at The Mirage hotel...

beautiful tropical setting... very comfortable beds... large flowing pool with waterfalls and a lush garden setting... nice pool side cafe... a "secret garden" in the back of the dolphin's pool.

This is the pool at The Mirage, with a view of Cesar's Palace next door.

In the secret garden at The Mirage, are lions, tigers, leopards, lamas, and swans.  I'm not one for zoos, but I did enjoy communicating with these guys more than the humans, although Mom and I were treated very nicely at this hotel.

The Mirage "volcano" erupts nightly on the hour until 11 PM... quite impressive. We could see it from our room on the 23rd floor.

There is a Cirque du Soleil show at The Mirage called "LOVE", that is choreographed to The Beatle's music.  I'm told that it is beautifully done.  However, our stay was so short that we will have to catch it another time. We had tickets instead to see The Blue Man Group, which was fun and clever (timing not as good as the original guys)... and the lighting and sound crew need to get a clue... but it was OK.

In terms of dinner...
Delmonte Steak House at The Venetian hotel (across the street from The Mirage... and where we saw The Blue Man Group) is superb!!

The Casino at The Mirage is friendly and not crammed with people.  The ceilings are lower than in most casinos and the smoke can be oppressive, if sitting next to a few puffers; but if you play near the high rollers, there's piped in clean air in those areas.  I guess they want to make sure the big spenders stay put.

Mom and I miss the one arm bandits that have actual coins that fall out.  The last time we were in Vegas, that's what we played.  Now, the machines appear to all be push buttons and cash out slips of paper, like at the Indian casinos in San Diego.  The lack of coins probably caused me to lose less than I would have if I had enjoyed the game more, so I guess I should be thankful.  lol

Just as we were leaving our hotel, the Latin Grammy's were coming to town.  I would have loved to have seen that.  I saw a little of it tonight on TV.

Anyone who is going to LV... I definitely recommend The Mirage overall.  We had a wonderful time.

My mother likes Vegas. I think my mother (77) has been up to four times now. I was with her the last time. Its a wild place to be but not if you don`t like losing lol.

I went to see the show "We will Rock you' written by the talented writer Ben Elton A story smartly merged around the music of one of the great bands of our time Queen.

It was a nice family time.........I miss my family.
I had just had my 45th birthday to.

My mum plays games on the net now and tends to her Terrier.

Bless Mums !
Thats my Boy!
