for any length of time, without it spoiling and turning

  all brown and ugly.

          I found the secret to keep it fresh for as long

 as possible. This will work for most all types of lettuce.

      

           When coming home from the produce market,

  Take your fresh lettuce, and remove it from any

 plastic bag it may be in. Remove any leaves that may

  be ugly,soft, or discolored. You can wash the remaining

  crisp lettuce in ice cold water, if you wish..but drain

 it off after washing. The last step is to wrap it

  completely in a single large sheet of aluminum foil.

    Cover it with the foil loosely, so that it may be

  able to breathe. If you place the lettuce in your

  refrigerator's produce section, it will stay fresh for

 a very long time...

         Never cut lettuce with a knife unless you intend

 on eating it soon after it is cut. Trying to store lettuce

 after it has been cut with a knife is a waste of time.

   It will very soon turn brown at the area where the

 knife has sliced it, and will look bad.[rusty]

         I hope this info helps some of you that may

 have problems keeping your lettuce fresh and nice.

      It's the ONLY method that I have found that works.

    With summer approaching, we all will be eating

 fresh salads rather than heavy meals..and this trick

 will keep your lettuce in the best shape, for the

 longest time.  ENJOY !!!
